Travel times within Maui are up to an hour.

  • Car Rentals: The most common and flexible way to explore Maui, especially for reaching beaches, remote surf and dive areas, and scenic routes like the Road to Hana. Rentals are in high demand, so booking early is essential.

  • Ride-Sharing Services: Uber and Lyft operate across the island, especially in more populated areas. Convenient for short trips or when parking is limited.

  • Public Buses: Maui Bus serves most major areas, but schedules are limited and not ideal for accessing remote beaches or multiple water sport locations.

  • Bicycle Rentals: Great for short distances, coastal rides, and around towns. E-bike rentals are increasingly available.

  • Taxis & Shuttles: Available island-wide but generally more expensive. Often used for direct hotel or activity transfers.

Inter-Island Transportation from Maui (Hawaiian Islands)

  • Ferries: The only regular ferry route is between Maui and Lānaʻi. The trip takes about 45 minutes and runs several times a day. No regular passenger ferries to other islands.

  • Private Boats & Charters: Available but expensive. Mostly used for tours rather than inter-island commuting.
